General Membership meeting – Birds of Prey presenting

This month our featured presenter will be Birds of Prey Northwest.   From their website: "Birds of Prey Northwest’s mission is to educate the public about birds of prey, through live raptor presentations and other expanding outreach, and provide medical treatment to injured, sick, and orphaned wild raptors with the goal of returning them to the wild. In 2021, Birds of Prey Northwest will celebrate its 28th year, as a nonprofit founded by raptor biologist and executive director Janie Veltkamp in St. Maries, Idaho. Janie's early work helping reintroduce Peregrine Falcons to urban sites led her to realize the unique position birds of prey hold as both powerful educators and bioindicators of ecological systems."   Doors open at 6:30, presentation begins at 7:00 pm

Volunteer Opportunity – Disabled Access Road Clearing

We will be clearing disabled access roads on Brewer and Mitchell mountains, and we will need volunteer support to help with this effort. If you are interested in signing up, or would like more information, please contact the office (509) 487-8552 thewildlifecouncil@gmail.com.

Volunteer Opportunity – Telford Fencing

The location is 3 miles south of the Telford rest stop on Hwy 2 (SW 1/4 of sec 15 on the map). Dates are still TBD, we will update as more information becomes available. Work will involve repairing the buck-and-rail fence the INWC built back in 2005.  It protects a small stream from grazing.  The Whitney fire burned some of the fence, but there is a lot left standing to work with.
