SUMMARY:Ed Weiler Memorial
DESCRIPTION:The family of Ed Weiler MC will be hosting a memorial in his honor at the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council hall on July 10th at 11am.  The memorial garden committee and the INWC board have voted to add both Ed and Lynn Weiler to the memorial wall as a thank you for their long standing dedication to the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council. Their plaques will be added to the memorial wall. \n  \nCOVID notice – currently the governor’s covid guidance states that 75 people are allowed in the council at one time. Unvaccinated individuals are still required to wear facemasks at indoor gatherings. We will keep updating the covid guidance as we learn more from the Governor’s office.

SUMMARY:General Membership meeting - Birds of Prey presenting
DESCRIPTION:This month our featured presenter will be Birds of Prey Northwest. \n  \nFrom their website: “Birds of Prey Northwest’s mission is to educate the public about birds of prey\, through live raptor presentations and other expanding outreach\, and provide medical treatment to injured\, sick\, and orphaned wild raptors with the goal of returning them to the wild. In 2021\, Birds of Prey Northwest will celebrate its 28th year\, as a nonprofit founded by raptor biologist and executive director Janie Veltkamp in St. Maries\, Idaho. Janie’s early work helping reintroduce Peregrine Falcons to urban sites led her to realize the unique position birds of prey hold as both powerful educators and bioindicators of ecological systems.” \n  \nDoors open at 6:30\, presentation begins at 7:00 pm

Dates are still TBD\, we will update as more information becomes available. \nWork will involve repairing the buck-and-rail fence the INWC built back in 2005.  It protects a small stream from grazing.  The Whitney fire burned some of the fence\, but there is a lot left standing to work with. \n

SUMMARY:Volunteer Opportunity - Swanson's Lake
DESCRIPTION:Swanson Lakes wildfire recovery\, volunteers will be helping to plant shrubs and plants to help recover the areas impacted by the wildfires. Please contact the office to be added to our volunteer roster (inwcexec@gmail.com). \nWe will be meeting each morning at 10 am at the WDFW office on the Swanson Lakes Wildlife Area (Google Map Pin HERE).  INWC volunteers will be working directly with WDFW private lands biologist\, Todd Baarstad. He has asked that volunteers bring the following: \n                -work gloves \n                -lunch \n                -personal gear \n                -masks \n                -hand sanitizer \n                -shovels (the council will bring several shovels\, but if you are able to bring your own as well that will help) \n  \nBefore heading out to the project you will need to create a CERVIS account with WDFW (available HERE). On the day of the project volunteers will need to fill out a COVID attestation HERE.  Lastly\, please read the attached COVID guidelines for volunteers\, there is a page on the volunteer checklist that will need to be signed and turned it. I will be bringing copies of the form to the project site so that you do not need to print the form\, please read all the documentation prior to the project and we will have each volunteer sign the forms at check in. \n  \nFunding for this project came from the INWC’s wildfire recovery fundraiser. Together we raised over $16\,000 for this effort. Thank you for your generous support!! \n

SUMMARY:INWC Elections
DESCRIPTION:Upcoming Board Elections \n  \nWith the Governor’s stay home order limiting the number of people allowed in our building and canceling “social gatherings” we have been unable to host our monthly membership meetings. However\, every December the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council hosts elections for board members and this process is vital to the functioning of our volunteer efforts as well as the business side of the council. Our bylaws mandate that the voting be done in person at the December meeting. We are making every effort to remain in compliance with both our bylaws and the Governor’s orders\, so the elections will be slightly different this year. \n  \n\nCandidate profiles will arrive in the December newsletter\nVideos of the candidates will be sent out for viewing prior to voting (YouTube\, Facebook\, E-mail\, also viewable at the office).\nOn the day of the election we will be limited to the number of people in the building at one time. So voting will be open from 6:30-7:30.\nWe will have voting stations spaced out around the hall one household per table at a time.\nOnce you have voted please turn in your vote and exit from the East door (routes will be marked as required by the current order).\nVoting will close at 7:30 and the ballots will be tallied at that time.\nNew board members will be sworn in that evening and the voting results will be sent out to the membership through email\, newsletter and Facebook. If you would like a call with the results please preregister that request with the office.\n\n  \nWe appreciate your patience as we try to navigate the current mandates. During this time\, our main concern is protecting the health and safety of our members while honoring the bylaws and traditions of the council. We look forward to seeing you in December\, even if it is for just a short visit.
